I live in a tiny little town right outside the town of Mineral, VA.

On August 23rd a 5.8 earthquake rocked our area and caused severe damage.

The local Louisa County High School has been condemned. The high school is currently sharing the middle school. The high schoolers have classes on Monday, Wednesday, Friday. The middle schoolers are going Tuesday, Thursday and every other Saturday (yes Saturday!). They have also condemned one of the elementary schools and those children are being sent to another elementary school.

Many folks aren't even aware of this as the media chose to concentrate on the surrounding areas (such as Washington, DC and New York). Mineral, VA was the epicenter of this earthquake and they need YOUR help!!

In an effort to raise awareness and to possibly help with donations to the disaster relief fund ... please, please, PLEASE help bring country singer Alan Jackson to Mineral, VA!!

I have to admit I have been hanging out on a lot of coupon sites these days. Tyring to save money anywhere and everywhere. Like everyone else I have become aware how expensive life is in general, it may be due to the fact that my son is starting college this month and even though he is attending the community college locally boy is it expensive. So I have been doing mini couponing. I will share that with you another time.

Anyway, my creative side has been resting lately and I am not sure that is a good thing. So I have issued a challenge for myself that I will not share right now, but I have put myself on the right track I hope. Having a Great time ~ What a pair

It has been a while since I posted. I have however posted on my other blog Project-Create so check me out there for a little crafty goodness. Hope to start doing more crafty stuff soon. It's kinda strange I am the kind of person that needs a goal as far as crafts go. Just to sit and make random crafts doesn't seem very productive and I have a really hard time.

Not much going on at home. The summer is winding down fast, so we have been trying to squeeze in our adventures. We went to Busch Gardens on Friday. I must say that place is exhausting. So much walking to get from one place to another. But it was a perfect weather day and we had a Great time.

They do Fireworks every night, Samantha's comment was that must be expensive! lol they were great and we were back home by 11:30. Then Saturday we spent the day with some old friends catching up and reminiscing. Great food and great friends!

Samantha Turns 11

This weekend we celebrated Samanthas Birthday with a "Camp Samantha" Theme. It was as much fun to plan as the party itself. It was a flurry of activities starting at 2 on Saturday. They swam, they had cake, they opened presents we had a food with a mini smore's bar, we had a photo booth, we did crafts, we swam, we watched Justin Beiber, we played glow stick tag and had real Smore's outside on the fire, and then they settled down to watch the new movie "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" with popcorn. I fixed pancakes in the morning and sent them home! We had a great time! Below are the pictures from the day. I will be sharing the details and how to on my other blog. Happy Monday!

I made it through this day that snuck up on me. The last 18 years has really flown by and my baby boy is all grown up. It was a very nice ceremony and the party afterward was a lot of family and food. Here are a few pictures from the day.

Samantha graduated from 5th Grade yesterday, the ceremony was short and sweet. I am relieved my baby girl made it through 5th grade. Today is her last day and GBH, she has been staying there since she was born and Mark from 3 months to 12 years old. What a great group of ladies that work there. I could not have ask for better care for my children. We will miss seeing everyone, but time marches on and kids grow up unfortunately! Here are a few pictures from yesterday.

Bedroom Updo

I have been wanting to paint in my house and found some wonderful color from Lowes.
I wasn't sure if I would like it so I decided to paint the wall behind my bed. So Friday I went to work.

Here is the before picture

I painted the wall, dyed my curtains that are in dire need of replacement so this will have to do for a while.
And by the end of the afternoon I had my room done, put back together and I was a happy camper.

I also have been wanting to do some art work for behind the bed. So if you go to Project-Create you can see the quick project I decided on. Here is the finished bedroom.

I started a new book study last night, Becoming More than a Good Bible Study Girl by Lysa Terkeurst.
She also has a Website, Blog, Journal , so I will checking that out as well. Not sure how I feel about it yet, I have done so many Beth Moore studies and you always know those are going to be fantastic. I also am with a group of woman where I only know one of them, so it will be a new experience for me. We started at 7 and before I knew it, it was 9. I learned a few things, which is always a good thing.

When I got home I was too wired up to sleep so I ended up staying up until after 10 watching Top Chef All Stars. Carla is my favorite, but she disappointed me, though I can't blame her I would have lost track of time in a free for all at Target myself. Of course I fell asleep before the elimination.

Almost a Month

That's how long it has been since I last posted. My how time flies. It snowed again last night, just about 1/2 inch. Enough to send everything into a turmoil. I am so ready for spring, I can almost hear the grass screaming to get out of the ground.

Since last month I have been busy with getting Mark ready for graduation in June: Making Lists, Ordering Announcements, ordering pictures, ordering ordering ordering....that equals $$$$$.
I cannot believe my baby boy is graduating. Heck I can't believe it has been 28 years since I graduated!
Well, 28 years, one husband, two kids, two dogs, three cars and a mortgage later, it's time for my baby to graduate and start his own life and career. He has made academic honor roll all year and worked his tail off at Subway. He is such a fantastic young man with a million and one ideas on what he wants to do with his life. He will figure it out, just like we all did at that age.

Samantha continues to try and drive me bonkers with her craziness, no one told me girls were like this, I would have opted for two boys! LOL Just kidding..............
We have gotten her signed up for softball, but at this point we don't have enough for a team, so we shall see what happens with that. She is already preparing for her 11th birthday party, which by the way is in June.
She does OK with her school work, but has really been working on reading everyday and her math skills are improving.

Mitch is doing good, They have moved him once again to the Va. Beach store. Seems like he should be wearing a fireman's hat, they are always sending him to the problem stores to fix what ever might be going on.

I think he is ready for the warm weather as much as I am. We miss sitting outside on beautiful warm nights.

I actually manged to get together with a group of friends last Saturday. I worked on some cards and Deb and I shared cricut carts. and just played cutting out different things and just experimenting. I have been visiting a new church for about 3 months celebration christian church and have really enjoyed it. I have a few friends there so it helps a bit with the transition, not sure if it's my new home yet. Time and God will tell.

I am working on some craft stuff. Hope to get that posted soon.

2011-Day 13

So like everyone else, I wanted to make some changes this year. And so like everyone else I have begun to fail. Here is my short list.

Stay off of FB every morning and use the Wii instead.
Redesign my Scrap space to be more efficient.
Start scrapbooking layouts again.

I had decided last night to not wait until Monday to start, so I stayed up late (10) for me getting my Fronterville passion out of my system. I do not know why I play that game it really is habitual. Anyway so because I stayed up too late, I actually overslept this morning until 6:08. You have to understand that I usually rise between 4:30 & 5 so that would have given me plenty of time to use the Wii and shower and do all my other morning stuff. Maybe tomorrow I will try again. I am banning myself from Fronterville for a while.

I am putting off the scraproom redesign until I can find something I am happy with. It is just such a small space there is not alot of room for change.

Lastly my friend Shell has given me a great idea for my scrapbooking. See this post she suggested that I start doing at least one Christmas layout on the 25th of every month. So I am all over that idea. She also did a great visual board to inspire her. See that here. I have a very large frame that I redid a long time ago, so I my use that as my inspiration board. It was way back on 2007. See that HERE.

I am super excited that Franklin now has a scrapbook store-But I'm bummed because I have no scrap funds to buy anything.

I confess that all of the above is uninteresting to anyone but myself, maybe I'll do better next time!

A New Year

Just a layout to acompany my post

     So here we are again starting a new year and I find myself lost with no direction. I have been contemplating letting this blog go dormant for a while and just posting on my Project Create Blog. I have been thinking about it alot and I have really gotten away from doing my first love Scrapbooking. My pictures are piling up and no pages are being produced. Frankly I have enough supplies to produce pages and pages. So with that thought I need to make a decision.

     Judi and I started a project last year and well I fell short and never finished. I am ashamed of myself. I may start up that project and finish before moving on to the next thing, which of course I have no idea what that will be! LOL I have thought of doing a Christmas Album of just Christmas pictures, but 25 years is a lot so that may be an ongoing project.

     So you see how indecisive I am? If you can offer any opinions that might help me I would so grateful.
Although I am not sure anyone even reads this blog so If you are out there, please just a small comment may help.

So I am trying to not be selfish with this next statement, but this is the first time in 46 Years that I have not spent Christmas with my mom. She is visiting my sister who has not spent Christmas with her mom in 30 Years! So we celebrated before she left and I thought I would share my favorite pictures. I did not take a group picture and am very unhappy with myself about that. So we are hopping to have a White Christmas and they are hoping to have a dry Christmas. I hope that the rain is over for them and they can get back to normal weather. On to the Pictures.

The Birthday Boy

My Buddy turned 18 this past weekend, he is such a great kid despite his issues now and then.

There are worse things I guess. I Thank God every day for this child he is such a Blessing to Mitch and I.

He wanted a confetti cake for his birthday, so I whipped him up a couple bunt cakes and made this. Not sure if he liked it, but it sure was good, I sustituted moms homemade apple sauce for the oil and it makes the cake so moist.

Christmas Card Martha Style

Close up of tree

I made this tree using my Martha Stewart punch cutting a 4" wide strip alternating red and this great print paper. I layered them one on top of the other. Turned it over and drew a triangle shape on the back and cut it out.

Added a sentiment rub on to the top, small green trunk at the bottom, used a button for the topper and Viola.

As I said in my last post, I enjoyed making Christmas cards Saturday. Though I only got 12 cards finished I feel like I have jump started my objective. Fall Ball

So for the past 7 weekends we have been at the ball field. Either Smithfield, Windsor or Holland. Next weekend is our last game. Last night we played the Windsor Pink Ponies another undefeated team. Samantha even got to pitch an inning. I get butterflies when she pitches, she did a great job. Struck out two batters and pitched a no run inning. YEAH SAM! So if we win they get a trophy with a one on it! That is an inside joke. We cal it a lesism (the coach) Coach Les and Coach Murphy have done a Fantastic job working on skills with the girls and it shows...... I love watching the girls play hanging out with other ball moms. We have a Great time cheering on the girls and fussing at the Umps. lol

This is kinda a catch-up post. I have been so so busy with all kinds of crazy stuff. Sports, family and home I know I know, just like everyone else. I am just glad the weather has been so fantastic.

I am very excited about getting the proofs back, Laura did such a great job as always.

Jackie is getting better and stronger every day and we are hopefully his recovery will continue to improve.
Mom is just about worn out and I worry about her terrible. I feel helpless because there is really nothing I can do to improve her situation with Jack. She gets a little time to herself now and then, I hope it is enough.
We are all getting ready for the holidays they will be here before we know it.

Also milestone birthdays are coming up Mark will be 18 in November, it's enough to make a mom feel old!

He is so Happy to be home. We sat outside for quite a while, just enjoying the beauty of the yard. He is doing great, They sent him home with this walker that you see in the picture, pretty cool, and he can get around pretty easy, he tends to rush, so we have to slow him down.

He will be starting therapy Friday and will continue to get therapy 3 times a week for 4 weeks. That makes me feel good, because I feel like they only think he can get better and better the more therapy he gets. I am also going to to take my wii over , just for something different and fun to do.

Well Happy Wednesday and keep up the prayers, especially for mom. God love her, i truly think she is a saint disguised as a Mom and Wife!

Jack Update

Well, he is getting better and better and is so ready to come home. He will be coming home on Tuesday! Mom is hanging in there, but it's alot on her driving back and fourth every day. She is hanging tough.

He is slowly getting around on a 4 prong cane and has some use of his right hand. Still slow, but hopefully will continue with therapy when he gets home. Like I told mom we need to take it one day at a time. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes! I will keep you updated as he progresses.

As you may have noticed I had to remove the Jack will be home ticker. They want to keep him an extra week so he can receive as much therapy as possible. So the new date is Sept. 14th. He has improved so much, just since he has been there. He is not happy about it, but the reality is that the longer he stays the stronger he will get.

I went to visit with him last night and found him to be in good spirits, I have never seen one person with so many friends. He gets lots of company so that makes the day go by much faster. We will never be able to Thank all of his friends for the visits and uplifting they provide. I guess you reap what you sew. We should all be so lucky to have so many people that care about us.

He is progressing really well, he is able to lift his leg and his hand and wiggle most of his fingers. Also his speech is really improving. My prayers are that he will get better and better and be back home soon.

Mom is holding up, but just exhausted everyday by the time she makes it home. Carol and I do what we can, it is our job to make sure mom is taking care of herself. She is a such a rock.
Please keep praying that Jack will get better and better, we don't know what the days ahead hold for him, but our thoughts are positive....

Jack Update

Well, we are in day 6. They moved him to Maryview rehab center yesterday and we got him all settled there for what he is claiming 2 weeks!! So that is his goal to be home by September 7th!

He is progressing and was able to lift his arm with lots of work up to his stomach. He will have therapy 2 times a day 1.5 hours each time. His determination is strong, so that is a plus. Please keep him in your prayers. Mom is holding up and is doing good. Her 71st Birthday was yesterday and boy I hope I look that good and am that strong in 25 years!!

     Well, since my last post everything has changed.  That's how life is I guess, fine one minute and turmoil the next.
     Sometime Thursday night my stepfather Jack had a stroke, it did not become evident until Friday. Long story short he has had a stroke and is in the hospital. He has started therapy as he has lost mobility of his right side. Not to mention getting the correct medication to get rid of the occlusion of his right vertebral artery. In other words he has complete blockage of the right artery in his neck. After his meds are regulated and the blood thinner has done it's job he will be going to a rehab facility for a couple of weeks.

     Please be in prayer for Jackie and my mom. It is going to be a long rough road for them both.

Hi Everyone

As we get closer to end of summer I realize that we have not gotten together to scrap since March.
Wow how time flies!

Mom and I have decided that it is about time, so we will be having a crop at the Bronco Club on August 21st. from 9 to whenever we get tired of talking, laughing and maybe getting something accomplished! It will be bring a dish to share and drink of choice. And the best part is that it is FREE and we get to all see each other again!

I am compiling a list so If you can make it let me know. Feel free to bring friends we have plenty of room.

A Great Vacation!

I think things have finally settled down and I have gotten some crap about my lack of posting. We had such a great trip and did so much, but I was kind of slack on my picture taking. It's hard to relax and get all the photos you want at the same time.
We arrived on Tuesday and the relaxation began the Burton's are the Best hosts. They made sure we had everything we needed. The first day we relaxed by the pool. We could not have asked for better weather. While VA. had record highs we were relaxing and enjoying very mild warm weather. On Wednesday we all went to Dave and Busters and had a great time, playing games eating and laughing. No pictures sorry.

Thursday we relaxed again and Friday we were off to the water park.

Then my friends Mitzi came by for a visit with her daughter. We had a fire by the pool and enjoyed each others company. The kids had a great time getting to know each other.

Saturday morning we headed to Fallbrook for the Wedding. I cannot even describe how incredible this wedding was. All the details were perfect. I did not get very many or very good pictures at the wedding it was because I was having such a great time. Judi worked very hard on making this the perfect wedding for her daughter and she was very successful.

We were even lucky enough to have Josh with us. And some old family friend. Even Judi got a chance to Boogie. Will share more in the next post.

We enjoyed our flights. Can you believe on our 2nd flight we had direct TV? I actually got to watch NCIS while flying for 5 hours. The kids had a great time. We are here now and trying to get straightened out from the time difference. That is why I am up a 3:30. lol

Today is my Anniversary! I have been married to this wonderful man for 25 years today!

Look at us, we were so dang happy! I love this man more today than I did that hot summer day in July!

This picture is kinda funny, because the young lady in this picture is my beautiful niece Alexandra Rose Gilmore! She was there the day Mitch and I got married. Tomorrow we leave to attend her wedding on the 24th. I can't believe that much time has passed. Life goes by really fast so make sure you are paying attention! Before you know it you are attending the wedding of a 3month old! LOL

We have been super busy this week with playoff ball games, thank goodness they are in Holland. Tonight we are relaxing and catching up on everything.

Mark had his first real trip by himself with friends to Nags Head this weekend. He almost made it all weekend without incident. He called yesterday to tell me he locked his keys in his car. The locksmith only charged them $13.00 because they waited an hour and a half for him to get there. So all was well. He brought me this ring, said he never got me a Mother's Day present. Almost made me cry, this is the first gift he has ever bought me with his own money. I will cherish it Forever!

Then I started thinking about him being a senior next year. Good Grief my little boy is growing up!

We had lots of excitement yesterday. We were there from around 9 am to about 4, but we had a great time and raised money for the association, so it was worth it! Below was my favorite entry!

Sam does have a 4th-5th grade dance tonight! Mitch is doing great and will be returning to work on Wednesday. We will see how he does, I have loved, loved, loved having him home. Did I mention how much I love having him here when I get home? LOL Anyway hope everyone has a great weekend and the following cards are for me becasue I wish I could keep my husband home all the time. Love you Honey!

I had a quiet Mother's Day on Sunday with the family and then on Monday mom and I went shopping. Can't say we got any great deals, but of course we had a great time. We went to the Tuesday Morning that they just opened in Chesapeake. I must say I was extremely disappointed. The scrapbooking section was modest, but the prices were awesome and I did manage to pick up a pack of paper I was needing. They had 12 x 12 albums for $7 so I would definitely go back for scrapbook stuff, but nothing else really seemed like a deal. I guess I prefer Ross.

A few of us went to Tucker Swamp Church on Saturday to watch a live satellite link with 330,000 other women. Usually Beth overwhelms me with Spiritual Inspiration, but I must say this was a little disappointing. I even found my mind wandering at times. She just seemed all over the place and really not focused. I did learn something about Insecurity and she always makes you think and learn to use her message in your own life. I guess a little inspiration is better than none at all. Special Thanks to the Ladies at Tucker Swamp for making us all feel welcome.

We have so much fun we could never explain it.

We laugh, we talk, and we have great fun

We talk about everything under the sun.

We always have gifts for each other it seems

Sometimes only we know what they mean

We each have our ways, but we are never boring

Sometimes it’s talking for others it’s snoring.

Dancing and eating and scrap lifting are favorites

but those around us probably hate it

With all of the memories we have in our mind

Balloon Blast!

We had Balloon blast on Sunday after church, but Saturday we filled 200 balloons! The kids past bible verses and for every 3 verses they passed they get 1 balloon. It was a little chilly, but the kids had a great time.

We had so many balloons left that we decided the leaders would throw them at the kids. Here are a few shots of the leaders and the kids. Yes, I did get picked one too, but no one got a picture!

Hope everyone is having a good week so far.

Mitch is doing pretty good, but his foot hurts alot!

The doctor said his bone was the hardest he had ever seen,

so he did alot more manipulating than normal.

I take him back to the doctor on friday.

He is a pretty good patient, but is already tired of laying around doing nothing, and the poor thing doesn't like to read so the TV is his only friend! Thanks for all your well wishes!

Lot's going on this week, so i have been running around alot! Need to get my garden planted, can't wait to show you all we have done. This is my first garden ever, so I am very excited about it.

I am very excited about getting the proofs back﻿, Laura did such a great job as always.

Jackie is getting better and stronger every day and we are hopefully his recovery will continue to improve.

Mom is just about worn out and I worry about her terrible. I feel helpless because there is really nothing I can do to improve her situation with Jack. She gets a little time to herself now and then, I hope it is enough.

We are all getting ready for the holidays they will be here before we know it.

Also milestone birthdays are coming up Mark will be 18 in November, it's enough to make a mom feel old!
